Arriving at Our Georgetown Chiropractic Office
When you arrive at Ash Chiropractic & Wellness, you’ll be greeted by our friendly front desk team, who will check you in and get you settled right away. If it’s your first visit, you’ll complete a comprehensive intake form covering your health history, current symptoms, lifestyle habits, and any medications you’re taking. We recommend completing these forms online before your appointment — visit our Online Forms page to get started. For returning patients, check-in is quick and straightforward.
We do our best to run on schedule out of respect for your time, and we ask that you arrive a few minutes early so your appointment can begin promptly. Our office environment is calm, professional, and welcoming — we’ve designed it that way intentionally, because we know that many of our patients are dealing with real pain and deserve to feel at ease from the moment they walk in.
Your Evaluation and Examination
Once you’re checked in, you’ll be brought back to meet with Dr. J. Brooksie Ash, D.C., R.D. Dr. Ash will review your intake information and discuss your current health concerns in detail. He may ask follow-up questions about the nature and duration of your pain, any activities that aggravate or relieve it, prior treatments you’ve tried, and your overall wellness goals.
Depending on your condition, your examination may include postural analysis, range-of-motion testing, orthopedic and neurological assessments, and hands-on palpation of the spine and affected areas. Dr. Ash may also recommend diagnostic X-rays when appropriate — particularly for new patients or when there’s been a notable change in your condition. X-rays allow us to see the alignment of your spine and identify any structural issues that may be contributing to your pain.
Your Treatment Session
After the examination, your treatment session will begin. Depending on your individualized care plan, this may include a combination of services such as chiropractic adjustments, spinal manipulation, spinal decompression, massage therapy, deep tissue laser therapy, intersegmental traction therapy, muscle stimulation (E-Stim), or cupping therapy. Each service is chosen based on what will most effectively support your recovery and long-term health.
At the end of your visit, Dr. Ash or a member of our team will debrief with you — reviewing what was done, what you can do at home to support your progress, and when you should return for your next appointment. We’ll never leave you guessing about your care. Our team is always available to answer questions at (512) 868-6400.
Frequently Asked Questions — What to Expect
How long does a typical chiropractic appointment take at Ash Chiropractic & Wellness?
Follow-up appointments are typically 20–30 minutes, while your first visit will be longer — approximately 45–60 minutes — to allow time for a thorough evaluation and care plan discussion. Learn more on our Your First Visit page.
What should I wear to my chiropractic appointment?
We recommend wearing comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows Dr. Ash to access your spine and joints during the examination and treatment. Athletic wear or casual clothes work great. Avoid tight jeans or restrictive clothing if possible.
Will I need X-rays at every visit?
No. X-rays are typically taken during your initial evaluation and only repeated if there has been a significant change in your condition or if additional imaging is needed to guide your treatment. Most follow-up visits do not require new imaging.
How many chiropractic visits will I need?
This varies depending on your condition, how long you’ve had it, and your body’s response to treatment. After your initial evaluation, Dr. Ash will outline a recommended care plan with a projected timeline. Some patients feel significant relief after just a few visits, while others benefit from ongoing care.
What should I do after a chiropractic adjustment?
After your adjustment, drink plenty of water, avoid strenuous activity for the remainder of the day, and follow any specific at-home recommendations Dr. Ash provides. Mild soreness is normal after your first few visits and should resolve quickly.
Do you offer any services beyond chiropractic adjustments?
Yes. We offer a comprehensive range of services including massage therapy, spinal decompression, deep tissue laser therapy, cupping, nutritional counseling, and more. Visit our Services page for the full list.
Can I expect to feel better after my first visit?
Many patients notice some improvement after their very first adjustment, though results vary depending on the condition being treated. Some patients experience gradual improvement over the course of their care plan. Dr. Ash will set realistic expectations and keep you informed throughout your treatment journey.
